Contamination Back To Top

Contamination is normally found once the paintwork has been washed and dried. When you lightly stroke your hand across the paint’s surface, it is felt to be rough rather than silky like glass. These contaminants are normally airborne particulates which have embedded into the paintwork. Removal requires the use of a non abrasive clay bar and lubricant.

Swirl marks Back To Top

Swirl marks consist of fine scratches which normally appear in circular patterns. They are commonly caused by automatic car washes or poor washing techniques. These scratches, especially when seen in sun light or strong artificial light reduce the overall appearance of the vehicle. This damage of the vehicle’s surface can be rectified by careful use of progressive or fine polishes with a machine polisher.

Holograms Back To Top

Holograms appear to look like clouds floating over the paintwork and are unfortunately normally caused by inexperienced use of a rotary polisher and poor selection of a polishing product. Removal can be achieved through careful use of progressive or fine polishes and a machine polisher.

Scratches Back To Top

Scratches in the paintwork can normally be removed or greatly reduced through progressive or fine polishes applied with a machine polisher. However if the scratch can be felt with the thumb nail then you would normally only aim for a reduction in appearance.

Oxidation Back To Top

Oxidation is a result of UV rays, normally seen on older red vehicles which look pink and dull. Some other colours can be affected but not normally seen to the same degree. Total removal is not always possible due to paint thickness, however at least 75% should be expected. Removal of the oxidation requires the use of progressive or fine polish and or paint cleaners preferably applied with a machine polisher to restore the colours. Once restored the paintwork should be sealed with a UV inhibitor sealant to preserve the paintwork.

Bird Etching Back To Top

Bird Etching is caused by acidic bird droppings landing on and being left on the paintwork. Once left the acid in the droppings eats into the paint surface causing etchings. Removal requires the use of progressive or fine polishes and a machine polisher.

Stickers and Transfers Back To Top

Stickers and Transfers when removed leave behind shadows, these are caused by a combination of the paint, wear and UV rays. Removal requires the use of progressive or fine polishes and a machine polisher.

Leather Back To Top

Dirty leather not only detracts from the overall look and appearance of the interior, but it can also shorten the life of the leather allowing it to crack, split and wear out too soon. Correctly cared for leather should last the life of the car, in order to achieve this the leather needs occasional cleaning and regular feeding/conditioning.
